The goal of this bridging course is to ensure that all students of the Master Supply Chain Management at WU Vienna have the same basic knowledge of transportation and logistics management. This course provides an introduction to theoretical aspects and practical applications.
This course is a preparation for the logistics management lecture of the first semester. We therefore strongly recommend that you attend this course.
During this course we will introduce you to:
- The fundamentals of transportation
- Transportation modes and infrastructure
- Sustainable transport
- The basic concept of logistics
- Logistics functions: warehousing, inventory management, handling, picking, packaging, information service
- Procurement & inbound, production, outbound & distribution, disposal and green logistics
- Transport and Logistics Service Providers (LSPs)
- Supply Chain Management
- Basic KPIs
- Understand the fundamentals of transportation
- Understand the concept of logistics and its functions
- Understand the basics of Supply Chain Operations as well as Supply Chain Logistics Operations and Design
