Syllabus
Registration via LPIS
The course aims to offer students a low-threshold introduction to the international dimensions of private law and motivate them to engage more intensively with this subject matter in their Master's programme.
The focus is on the different effects of private international law and legal harmonisation, the meaning and purpose of comparative law, and the role of the EU and other institutional actors in these areas.
Another focus is on the topic of ‘Legal English’, where students will also have the opportunity to practise their own skills (with feedback).
Attendance at more than half of the contact sessions is expected.
Unexcused absence from the first session will result in deregistration.
If you are unable to attend the first session, you must notify the course instructor in advance by e-mail in order to continue participating in the course.
Lecture with discussion and exercises based on students' written homework
Assessment is based on participation in the face-to-face sessions (50%) and written work (homework assignments, 50%). There is no final exam.
The first 30 places will be allocated according to registration via LPIS.
A further 30 places (waiting list) will be allocated according to study progress.
