This course is the fourth and final course in the Ecological Economics specialisation. The content focus of this course is a comprehensive group project that allows students to delve deeper into a selected topic from the previous three courses (e.g. globalisation and international supply chains, key sectors such as construction/food/energy/mobility, or political processes and instruments for sustainable resource use and climate protection). An excursion to a company with a strong sustainability agenda reinforces the practical relevance of the course.

Upon completion of the course, participants will
· be familiar with the concept of the circular economy, have an overview of political initiatives to promote the circular economy, and be able to identify business models for the circular economy;
· have knowledge of important analytical frameworks and methodological tools for addressing sustainability issues in a structured manner;
· have improved their ability to present results in the context of climate protection and the circular economy;
· have gained practical experience by visiting a company with a strong sustainability agenda.
Attendance is compulsory in this course.
One class may be missed without any negative impact on the grade. Absences must be announced by email before the respective class.

Performance is assessed on the basis of three components:
· Group work (60%), including exposé (20%), final presentation (30%), peer review (10%)
· Excursion (30%), including preparation (5%), reflection report (25%)
· Active participation (10%)
