Contents

This is an introductory course to the CEMS program at WU. The goals of this intensive, one full day course is to provide key information to the CEMS students about their CEMS experience at WU. We will provide information about:

1. General communication with the CEMS office, weekly info, de-registration, evaluation, CEMS workload (ECTS), difference between CEMS and WU workload, exchange semester, internship, language courses, MSc thesis topics

2. Details about the CEMS network (CEMS schools), corporate partners (CPs).

      3. Presentation of the CEMS club and the CEMS alumni association

      4. Team building workshop and code of conduct workshop

      5. An introduction to the research element of the CEMS program, the MSc thesis

Learning outcomes

Knowledge: Students on completion of the course will possess:

•            Knowledge of the facilities at WU

•            Familiarity with the CEMS program, corporate partners, CEMS club and alumni association.

•            Theoretical input and reflection on thinking and collaboration modes of intercultural teams

 

Cognitive & subject specific skills: Students on completion of the course will possess:

•            The ability to work more effectively in a team.

•            Awareness of the impact of cultural differences on team dynamics.

•            Organizational abilities in relation to teamwork

Attendance requirements

This course is mandatory and requires in-person attendance for the entire day.

09:00 – 09:15         Introduction Academic Director 

09:15 – 10:00         Workshop 1:  Getting to know each other 

10:00 – 10:30         Administrative topics of relevance for your studies 

10:30 – 10:45         Coffee break

10:45 – 11:30          Workshop 2: How do we want to work together?

11:30 – 12:30          Admin topics II + CCV introduction

12:30 – 14:00         Lunch & Group photo

14:00 – 16:00         Workshop 3: What do you want to achieve during your CEMS studies? 

16:00 – 16:30         Coffee Break

16:30 – 18:00         Wrap up and final discussions & Award winners & Letter to your future self

from 18:00 on       Informal get-together organized by the CCV (followed by dinner for the Block Seminar participants.

Teaching/learning method(s)

The teaching methods are a blend of speakers' presentations, student participation in teams (based on team assignments during the workshop), and a personal participation

Assessment

Students will be assessed based on:

1. Their team presentations (group level): 70%

2. Their participation (individual level): 30%

 

Both grading elements need to be passed in order to get a "pass" grade for the entire course.
