Motivation:

Agentic AI is at the center of the largest technological and investment wave of recent years. Silicon Valley and the broader technology ecosystem are seeing rapid experimentation with AI agents, the emergence of new AI-native companies, and growing efforts by established organizations to use agentic systems to transform the design of products and services. The course gives students the opportunity to engage directly with a rapidly evolving technology at a moment of significant technological and entrepreneurial change.

Structure:

This course provides an introduction to agentic AI and the practical use of modern AI systems. Students will learn by building: identifying opportunities for AI agents, designing agentic workflows, and developing prototypes that address real-world problems.

Goal:

By the end of the course, students will have built an agentic AI product. Students will have the opportunity to develop their projects further into startup concepts.

Learning outcomes

The primary goal is to learn how to design and build effective agentic AI workflows. This goal is supported by three learning objectives: (i) Identify relevant use cases for agentic AI, (ii) design effective workflows that leverage agentic AI, (iii) evaluate the capabilities, limitations, and appropriate applications of agentic AI systems.

Attendance requirements

Attendance on all three full days is required to pass the course.

Teaching/learning method(s)

The course combines traditional teaching methods with AI-enabled approaches.

Assessment
  • 40% in-class work plus active participation
  • 40% final exam
  • 20% take-home assignment
