• This course provides students with in-depth knowledge about planning an empirical mixed methods research project. In groups, students prepare a proposal for a mixed methods research project combining quantitative and qualitative methods.
• Further, in-depth methodological, theoretical and scientific-theoretical questions are discussed.
• Building on the methods introduced in the summer term, new methods for data collection and analysis will be discussed and practiced. The same holds for ways of presenting and visualizing (qualitative and quantitative) results.

After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

• Competently design empirical research 
  • Assess appropriateness, advantages and disadvantages of specific methods and their combination
• Develop appropriate mixed methods/quantitative/qualitative research questions
• Design a mixed methods research project proposal
  • Select the methodology and the methods based on their research purpose.
  • Combine qualitative and quantitative methods fruitfully
• Implement different forms of presentation of scientific results

Students are required to attend at least 80% of the course sessions. If you miss a class, please inform us in advance!
