The Self-Leadership Skill Seminar is a hands-on, experiential module focusing on developing three core components of self-leadership: self-awareness, self-motivation, and self-regulation. This seminar complements and supports the personal internalization of self-leadership concepts and frameworks delivered in the Global Leadership course.

Learning outcomes

This seminar specifically addresses the following learning objectives:

  1. Develop and exhibit self-awareness by analyzing personal values, emotions, and behavioral tendencies through self-reflection and feedback.
  2. Demonstrate self-motivation by setting and achieving meaningful personal and professional goals, demonstrating persistence, and leveraging/maintaining intrinsic motivation.
  3. Exercise self-regulation to improve performance and well-being by managing emotions, behaviors, and decision-making under pressure, aligning actions with long-term goals, ethical principles, and professional responsibilities.
Attendance requirements

Attendance at the Self-Leadership Skill Seminar is mandatory for all MIM students. Any exception to attendance must be justified (e.g., illness via a medical certificate). In such cases, the seminar must be completed at another CEMS school or, exceptionally, during the following academic year, subject to approval.

Teaching/learning method(s)

·       Assignment

·       Group discussions

·       In-class activities

·       Individual reflections

Assessment

Assessment

The objective of this seminar is NOT to assess extant skills or abilities but to function as a generative platform for skill and ability development regarding self-leadership. Considering the course set up, we do 'assess' as pass/fail overall, in line with CEMS curriculum guidelines. The overall outcome is an aggregate of two components, each independently assessed as pass/fail.

  1. Class participation, pass/fail
  2. Written document of assignments (reflection & self-leadership development plan), pass/fail

To pass the seminar overall, students must achieve a pass on both components. A fail on either component results in an overall fail for the seminar.
