Goals of this course are:
•    to comprehend the key concepts of supply chain management and how they impact business strategy and operations
•    to identify how competitive advantage can be derived from superior supply chain management
•    to get to know supply chain management best practices and understand how they can be applied to achieve strategic goals

Criteria for successful completion
The course grade is determined by evaluating the student’s performance on the following activities:
•    Class participation: 20%
•    Written assignments and presentations: 20%
•    Written exam: 60% (60 min.; 50% questions and 50% short case study)
a positive grade in the exam is necessary to complete this course

Attendance is required and will be checked during all sessions.

Contents

In this course, supply chain management is considered to be a development of business logistics in an inter-organizational environment.

The course starts with the beer game, an in-class pen-and-paper experiment, giving first-hand experience of behavior in supply chains. Then goals and prerequisites to analyze and configure supply chains will be discussed, including supply chain strategy, planning and controlling. The course concludes with recent supply chain trends and best practices for supply chain management in turbulent times.

To ensure that up to date business insights are given, representatives of top consulting and industrial enterprises will be invited to present their best practice solutions and discuss current trends and innovations with the students.
