 This course will focus on the following topics:

  • Forecasting and demand planning
  • Sales and operations planning
  • Uncertainty and information flow in supply chains
  • Distribution planning


Learning outcomes

After a successful completion of this course, students will be able to

  • judge the importance of uncertainty and information asymmetry in supply chains and analyse supply chains from this point of view
  • judge the importance of the information flow in supply chains and apply methods to control such flows within the supply chain
  • understand the importance of mechanisms for coordination and for handling uncertainty within supply chains
  • select such mechanisms, as e.g. risk pooling, information sharing or collaboration
  • apply quantitative methods in the areas of demand forecasting and planning, distribution planning etc.
Teaching/learning method(s)
The course will combine alternative ways to deliver the different topics to the students, including lectures, class discussion of homework examples, and case studies.

The final grade of the course will depend on

  • Class participation
  • Homework assignments
  • Final exam
