This business project is realized in cooperation with an international telecommunications company and the specific scope will be in the areas of management development and education. Further information will be made available to participants in due course.

The business project reinforces the CEMS partnership between universities and companies in jointly shaping international management education. The Business Project is designed as a real-life learning experience for students. It provides students with a unique opportunity to gain insights into corporate practice of a global player. International student teams solve a real management problem as a one-term activity tutored by university faculty and the company.

For this project, the project schedule which you received via e-mail is relevant (not the dates as indicated in LPIS). Please consult the project schedule for times and places of meetings.

Learning outcomes

The aims of the project are

  • to investigate and structure a complex strategic management challenge that an international company faces
  • to provide an in-depth analysis of the current status
  • to provide strategic solutions that are viable under the given organizational conditions

After completing this project students will have

  • gained insights into what challenges an international company is facing in its management environment and how it deals with such issues
  • learned how to analyze and structure real-life management situations in a global context
  • combined and applied several theoretical concepts to the international management challenge
  • received feedback from practitioners on the outcome of their analysis and the viability of their recommendations

Students will have the ability to
  • develop critical thinking and defend their developed arguments in class and in front of practitioners
  • organize teamwork including presentation skills?present and "sell" their solutions in a professional way, through personal presentation skills and support of suitable media
Teaching/learning method(s)
The sessions involve a mix of presentations, discussions and workshops. Consequently, attendance and participation in class discussions will be critical to the success of the course and will determine your grade. In order to support your work throughout the project, you will have plenty of opportunities to get qualified input and feedback from your faculty coach.
Assessment

Students' grades will be determined by the results of their

  • peer review (individual assessment)
  • coach grade (individual assessment)
  • presentations (group assessment)
