Learning outcomes
Objectives of the Course:The workshop aims to educate the participants on the research process and developing a literature review. After attending this course, students will be able to:1) Develop a research study and write a literature review.2) Identify important facts and information on their chosen research topic.3) Organize cricital information in a written format.4) Research properly and source information for their research study. 5) Apply knowledge from international marketing and international business electives In addition, this course fosters the following soft skills:Analytical and Problem Solving AbilityWriting SkillsTeam Competence (criticism and feedback)Time management and work ethicsIdentify valuable information
Teaching/learning method(s)
It will be in modular format of two to three hours sessions. Participants will work with the sample material during workshop hours. Written work will be required.
Assessment
Grade valuation will be based on active participation, writing a research outline, developing a literature review, etc.Students are assessed primarily based on their participation, and written work is to be submitted on time, which means that your assignment is to be submitted no later than the deadline that will always be given to you in advance. Please note that there are no exceptions to this rule. Attendance will be required in specified lectures and workshops.

Unit Date Contents
1 Overview of the Research Process and the Literature ReviewParticipants will learn an overview of the research process as well as the skills necessary for an effective research process. In addition, participants will understand the value of a Literature Review.
2 Conceptualizing Research Topic and Data SourcesIn this module participants will learn techniques on how to identify a research topic and proper data sources. The first part is conceptualizing the research theme and identifying the research objectives. This implies the ability of participants to define the research criteria, assignment objectives as well as the scope of material required. Participants will be expected to work in teams in this module.
3 Structuring the Literature ReviewParticipants will learn how to identify the critical issues important to the research objectives and the value of proper data sourcing. Participants will be given exercises to identify the problem scenarios and will be expected to write an extensive outline for a Literature Review.
4 Assessing the Importance of Researched DataParticipants will learn the importance of research and referencing, data time sequencing and proper use of footnotes. There are several presentation styles in writing a Literature Review. Participants will be expected to write parts of the research paper.
5 Applying Tools and Tips to Enhance your ResearchThere are various methods participants can utilize to organize insights and concepts necessary for critical thinking. Such methods are dependent on the research topic of each particiant.
