Contents

The seminar on “Persuasion and Influencing Styles“ will raise students’awareness for common methods of persuasion widely used in business, marketing and even private interactions. From the purchase of a car to salary negotiations, influencing styles are applied on us or we even apply them subconsciously on others on a daily basis.

In this course, we will critically reflect on a wide range of persuasion and influencing styles. In detail, the course will cover following topics:

- Persuasion theory

- Leadership and communication techniques

- Influencing styles

- Discussions and arguments

Learning outcomes

After completing the skills seminar, students will have the ability to:

- Understand Persuasion Theory and apply in practice

- Assess their own Leadership Style

- Structure communication effectively

- Lead impactful discussions and build convincingarguments

Teaching/learning method(s)

Teaching methods will include short theory inputs, open class discussions, group discussions, case studies and student presentations.

Assessment

Final grade of the course depends on preparation for the course, group and case study presentations and the overall participation in class.

Prerequisites for participation and waiting lists

Course will be taught in English. Further details on preparation requirements will be shared with the students by 31st of March 2015.
