Leadership is one of the most widely used concepts in business. Everybodytalks about it, and many organizations claim to nurture leadership as animportant skill in leadership development. However, there is no consensus whatit takes to be a good leader; and it has not helped that leadership has beenmystified over the past decade, making this an almost magical quality only aselected caste of individuals has access to.

Quite recently, new economic and social developments have brought about anew class of knowledge workers who challenge the conventional leadership modeland re-think common ways of working. Importantly, the one-way hierarchalrelations between leaders and followers are increasingly questioned.

In the course of this seminar, we are going to develop the key elements ofa new and practical leadership framework that takes account of what has workedin the past, and will introduce new thinking to address the challenges of thefuture.

Learning outcomes

The objective of this seminar is to jointly develop a practical approach toleadership.

We will let ourselves inspire by speakers from industry, a non-profit organizationand an experienced leadership trainer from the United Nations. We will work onreal business cases and see how we can practically tackle the leadershipchallenges involved.

We want to avoid “how to” cookbook approaches which applysame-size-fits-all solutions to each and every challenge.

Teaching/learning method(s)

We are going to use a mix of brief lectures by experienced executives andleadership experts and group work on business cases.
