This course deepens understanding of the history of economic thought and current economic paradigms. It offers conceptual and methodological tools to relate economic theories to theories in other disciplines of social science.
After finishing the course, students will be able to
* understand ontological, methodological and epistemological foundations of different economic theories and paradigms,
* relate economic theories and concepts to theories and concepts in other social sciences
* apply economic theories and concepts to problems of socioecological development.
This reading course will be based on joint discussion of basic texts of economic thought
* regular oral synthesis of joint readings (30%)
* presentation of joint readings in class (20%)
* seminar paper relating economic theories and concepts to the respective doctoral research projects (50%)
