- Basics of communication, negotiating skills: active listening, personal messages, questioning techniques.
- Body language and appearance during presentations and speeches.
- Giving and taking feedback.
- Differences between Management and Leadership as input and as tool for practicing team facilitation (brainstorming and solution finding)
- Intercultural topics in a globalized world: overview of different cultures (the Lewis Model) as helpful tool for a future in an international and multicultural (business) world.
After completing this course,
- Students are able to prepare presentations and speeches and perform at their best in business situations and/or public appearances
- Students become aware of the necessity to fit speeches and presentations to different target groups (culture, personality, behavior).
- Students will experience the typical pitfalls of communication and know how to avoid misunderstandings and conflicts.
- Students will understand the differences between managing and leading (process vs. people oriented).
- They will experience finding solutions in team settings and how to facilitate this process
- Short theory input by the trainer
- Performances (presentations, speeches) by the students
- Video analysis
- Role plays
- Open class discussions
- Individual feedback
- 40% Written Exam on May, 23rd
- 10% Preparation of a presentation lasting at least 5 minutes (PowerPoint or similar) ready for the course (topic: study related)
- 30% Active participation in class and in role plays - Attendance is the precondition to be graded for this part of the grade
- 20% Reflexion paper on personal development and on what to work on in the future (3-5 pages)
