Modelling the dynamics of human capital formation.
Comparative analysis of European and global demographic trends and the implications of migration.
Population ageing and study of social change along cohort lines.
Students get familiar with the most important features of demographic change in Europe and the world (including migration) as well as its consequences on social structure.
Students show in their presentations how demographic approaches can be used to get a general analytical handle on analyzing and forecasting social change.
After an introduction to basic demographic concepts and models students will choose their topics and readings will be assigned. This will be followed by further discussions around the assigned topics and there will be two rounds of presentations by students.
Profound basic knowledge in mathematics and statistics.
