The Research Seminar aims at providing feedback to doctoral students on their research in order to advance their project and improve the dissertation.
Students participate actively as presenting researchers and/or discussants.
There will be 2 types of presentations:
1) junior stream:
• doctoral students in their 1st or 2nd year will present their research idea,
• followed by the feedback from a discussant who has a background in the same discipline
• followed by open discussion
2) Senior stream:
• doctoral students in their 2nd and 3rd year will present their research project and (preliminary) results,
• followed by the Feedback from two discussants, one from a different discipline,
• followed by open discussion
Grading depends on:
For students who present their research project / idea:
- 40% quality of the paper submitted prior to the presentation, and timeliness
- 40% quality of the presentation and responsiveness in discussion
- 20% active participation in discussion throughout the seminar
For students who do not present their research project / idea, but who act as 1st discussant in the senior stream:
- 50 % quality of the discussion
- 30% quantity of the discussion
- 20% active participation in discussion throughout the seminar
Additional participation as discussant can improve the overall grade.
Attendance is required throughout the seminar.
