Learning outcomes

Students will:

  • critically reflect on the purpose of businesses in society
  • learn about the concepts of sustainability, CSR and responsible leadership
  • explore sustainability and stakeholder management practices in different national contexts
  • study sustainability challenges that international companies and their managers face
  • analyze complex business situations and develop skills for managing various stakeholder needs
Teaching/learning method(s)

This is a highly interactive course that requires involvement in class discussions. Participants will be exposed to case studies, videos and articles that deal with sustainability, CSR and stakeholder management issues in various contexts. Group assignments (e.g., group presentations and stakeholder simulation games) are also part of the repertoire of the teaching methods in this class.

Assessment
  • 20% individual assignment

  • 40% group assignments

  • 30% participation in class

  • 10% peer rating

As participation is key in this class it is important that students are present at all sessions. Absences will affect a student’s grading (*percentages may be subject to change; no written exam).

Completed IB Foundations (Class 1 – Basics) and Applications (Class 2)
