This course is following up service learning I,respectively is aiming at the concrete implementation of the project conceptswhich were developed in service learning I. Students are encouraged to bringtheir own service learning project to life in the Austrian context. Based onthe learning outcomes of the prior phases of project development and relatedstakeholder feedback, students will face the opportunities of atransdisciplinary learning environment and will have to tackle the “real lifeproblems” of interactions between science and society.

-    Real-life experience of in antransdisciplinary environment

-    Students involvement in theregional community

-    Critical understanding andholistic perspective on the concept of socio-ecological transformation

-    Students not only learn fromthe experience of the service alone, but by reflection on and creating meaningfrom the experience

-    Complexity awareness, problemanalysis, critical thinking and cognitive development

The course will offer an improved understanding ofsocio-ecological transformation in its economic, ecological, social, culturaland political sphere in practice. It offers students the opportunity tounderstand different perspectives, and barriers of sustainability via anexperience-based learning approach/service learning method.
