Modelling the dynamics of human capital formation and demographic change.

Comparative analysis of  global demographic trends and the implications for social and economic development.

Population ageing and study of social change and health along cohort lines.

Learning outcomes

Students get familiar with the most important features of demographic change in the world (including fertility, mortality and migration) as well as its consequences on social structure and economic development.

Students show in their presentations how demographic approaches can be used to get a general analytical handle on analyzing and forecasting socioeconomic change.

Teaching/learning method(s)

After an introduction to basic demographic concepts and models students will choose their topics and readings will be assigned. This will be followed by further discussions around the assigned topics and there will be two rounds of presentations by students.
