Contents

This seminar focuses on Ph.D. research in the field of ethical information systems. Presentations are held by Ph.D. candidates on their research hypotheses. Feedback is given on the research presented, methods used, study design, literature relevant, state-of-the art knowledge in the field, etc. Topics include digital privacy, computer bias, value sensitive system design, human rights issues in IT, etc.

Learning outcomes

This seminar aims to help Ph.D. students to get their research published by teaching them

  • structured thinking necessary for experimental design.
  • state-of-the-art knowledge in academic fields like privacy and ethics by design, ethics in human computer interaction, IT related human rights issues
  • academic writing
Attendance requirements

presence is mandatory

Teaching/learning method(s)

Every Ph.D. student has to present his/her research project once in the semester and gets feedback from the instructor and other seminar participants. In addition in-depth individual feedback sessions are offered if necessary.

Assessment
  • 50% presence
  • 50% quality of presentation
