- Extending the knowledge and competences in European Labour Law

- Focus on collective redundancies and working time

Learning outcomes

- Theoretical and practical knowledge regarding European Labour Law in general and regarding the legal circumstances on privacy, equal treatment and work via platforms and in the so-called gig-economy in particular

- Ability to prepare written statements in English in small groups

- English comminication skills

Attendance requirements

Presence during the first class is mandatory. Not showing up results in losing the place in the course, except in exceptional cases with prior excuse. Attendance is generally mandatory for the entire course, however, a one-time absence, if justified, is possible.

Teaching/learning method(s)

- Introduction to the legal background regarding collective redundancies and working time in the European context in class

- Self-studying of the relevant cases and legal doctrine

- Preparation of written and oral statements for employer and employee position in small groups of four persons

- Active participation in class as well as in the groups

Prerequisites for participation and waiting lists

- Grundlagen des Europäischen Arbeits- und Sozialrechts (old curriculum)

- Europäisches Arbeits- und Sozialrecht (new curriculum)

 

- Written application (Times New Roman, 12 cm, space 1,5) until Sunday, 9 December 2018, sent to elisabeth.brameshuber@wu.ac.at.

The application has to include:

  • A max half-page motivation letter in English (why do you want to participate in the HS MCC; what are your expectations; how can you contribute positively to the team)
  • A CV in tabular form in English (max one page, including your grades from the labour law classes in the bachelor’s and master’s program, the latter of course if you have already completed the respective class only).

- Actual participation in the class depends on the positive evaluation of the application.
