During the talks leading experts presenting their thoughts and research results on ethical issues in information systems. The topics chosen are highly timely, including matters such as human rights in IT, privacy in system design, questions of democracy and freedom in the face of digital surveillance, challenges around hate speech, etc. The talks that have taken place in past semesters give a good insight into what to expect and can be found here: https://www.privacylab.at/events/
Students will learn of core subject matters debated in the research field of private & sustainable computing.
This seminar will see presentations by major experts in their field of privacy & sustainable computing. The experts invited to speak at this seminar are are mostly external experts from other unversities and research institutes. But the seminar also sees some presentations from our own staff to ensure everyone is 'a-jour' on what the Privacy & Sustainability Lab is currently doing.
Anyone who is interested in private & sustainable computing can participate in this seminar. That is: We also welcome students from the law school, from business ethics, from computer science, etc.
The research staff of WU's Privacy & Sustainability Lab is expected to be present in this seminar.
