Contents

The course will start by discussing how to develop impactful quantitative research questions and by reviewing the main quantitative study designs used in academic research. The rest of the course will be dedicated to the study of the quantitative methods that are most relevant to the class. Each quantitative method will be introduced by a short lecture containing Stata examples. Strong emphasis will be given to the reading and discussion of peer-reviewed academic articles applying the method. In addition, the students will have to present either their own research or a relevant published article during the semester. Finally, the students will get to practice each quantitative method by performing Stata exercises. Upon request, the course can also cover sample size calculation, and research grant writing.
