The emphasis in this course is on International Human Resource Management.

The following topics are covered in class:

- Global Labor Market
- IHRM and Strategy
- Global HR Planning
- Global Staffing
- Global Training and Development
- International Assignments 
- Global Compensation

Lernergebnisse (Learning Outcomes)

Aims and objectives
a) to review basic approaches to IHRM by studying the exam text
b) to assess theory and current practices in selection, performance management, development and compensation of staff for international work
c) to assess trends and influences on the use of global workforce in international assignments and virtual work groups.

Regelung zur Anwesenheit

This is a course with compulsory attendance. Students are allowed to miss no more than 3 hours without consequences.


The course includes three types of study processes:

-  The exam requires students to learn information about several aspects of IHRM from the textbook.

-  Class sessions provide an opportunity for critically discussing recent theories and concepts at the field from multiple cultural perspectives.

 - At the team presentations students will be informed about a contemporary profession or concept (like digital nomads, intercultural mediators, etc.) that are linked to IHRM by their peers.



Leistung(en) für eine Beurteilung

Written exam (open questions): 50 points
Team presentation: 40 points
Quiz: 10 points

General participation and regular attendance is expected!

The exam takes place at the last session.
