How compatible are Capitalism and Democracy
The course discusses the relationship between economic systems and democratic processes.
The course is organized as a lecture series. Experts are invited to talk about different examples and aspects of the topic. The first lecture provides a theoretical framework on the interconnectedness between economic and democratic systems.
In the following units, different speakers will present examples form different countries all over the world and analyze how different economic systems influence democratic processes. The topics cover among others ECB austerity politics, Chinese FDIs as well as financial innovations and the startup scene in Nairobi.
• Learn about the theory of the political economy.
• Learn about the basics of Regulation Theory
• Learn how different economic and governmental systems influence each other
• Discuss current issues and questions of the world economy and geopolitics
• Train you academic writing skills and critical thinking
• Learn to create an academic Poster
The course will consist of a mixture of lectures and more interactive format like workshops and group projects.
