Business Project “(Digital) Strategies for Transforming Industries”

COURSE PARTNERS: Organized by WU’s Energy & Strategy Think Tank (http://www.estt.at), this business project offers the unique opportunity to work with one of Austria's leading industrial corporations, Wien Energie (https://innovation-challenge.wienenergie.at/), and with IMP Consulting (https://impconsulting.com/en/), a partner with strategic, technological and business expertise whose value proposition goes above and beyond that of classical management consulting .

COURSE FOCUS & PHASES: Students will focus on developing (digital) strategies for transforming industries. Equipped with several state-of-the-art project management, firm analysis, and industry analysis tools, students will take the role of top-management consultants and work in teams. In the first phase of the course, students will conduct in-depth analysis of partners’ core competences and the trend landscape. In the second phase, student teams will assess and conduct deep dives to develop future scenarios.

COURSE EXPERIENCE: Mirroring the approach of top management consultancies, teams will be compiled based on education, competences, and experiences. To that end, each registered student needs to submit his/her CV. The compiled teams will be announced at the first day of the two-day-long kick-off. This interactive event will provide key insights and lay the ground for successful and joyful teamwork. Each team will have a team leader who, upon successful completion of the course, will receive an individual certificate of his/her leadership skills and tasks. This person will also be less involved in the analyses. Registered students can state if they want to assume the role of the team leader. More details will be provided in time.

COURSE TARGET GROUP & CAREER OPPORTUNITY: This course expects students to dedicate to constant high performance and to create excellent deliverables. In return, they will receive a hands-on training pivotal to become a top manager or top management consultant. Students from previous business projects were recruited by firms such as BCG, Novartis, and IBM.
