This research seminar is focused on the idea of man (or idea of humanity) that we implicitly hold and will study the book by Thomas Fuchs "Ecology of the Brain (International Perspectives in Philosophy and Psychiatry)" in order to delve deeper into our understanding of who we are. We will also have a session on value feelings and how we can link the understanding of human perception with human percepton of values specifically.

Learning outcomes

The learning outcomes of this seminar are

  • an understanding of our current knowledge on human perception, the role of the brain and the body
  • an understanding of how our neuroscientific insights should drive humans' role vis-a-vis machines (artificial intelligence)
Attendance requirements

Ph.D. students are required to attend all sessions of this seminar.

Teaching/learning method(s)

For every session participants are required to have read a chapter of the book by Thomas Fuchs.

Assessment

The quality of the material presented, attendance and participation in the discussion are the basis for grading in this course.
