Procedure for the course when limited activity on campus

(Most of the) sessions will be held online (live online sessions via MS Teams), in case they cannot take place at Campus WU under the usual circumstances. However, if the sessions can take place at WU, then students are required to be present on Campus WU.

If the (requested) rooms that comply with social distancing regulations are available, several sessions (e.g., kickoff, group presentation, special events, exams) are to be held on-site. Please consult the schedule for the exact course location.

Contents

This class sets the stage for a real-life business project. Together with a selected partner firm (one of the leading professional educational service providers in the DACH region), students will identify topics and trends of strategic importance to this firm and present them to the management. Specifically, the project will focus on the digital platform strategy of the partner firm.

In this part of the project, students will analyze both theoretical and practical literature and will give presentations on a range of different topics.

Learning outcomes

Completing this course will contribute to students' abilities to:

  • structure complex real-life business problems
  • interact with business clients in a professional service context
  • set up and conduct professional service project in an agile manner

    Attendance: In order to successfully pass this course, your absence is limited to 20% of our appointments.

    The course uses a collaborative project- and problem-based learning approach. This implies that students will need to develop solutions to complex questions on an individual and/or group level. To support this process, a mix of instruments will be used: Input lectures will provide basic concepts for the next steps, coaching sessions will provide early feedback, while presentations and reports will demonstrate the ability of students to successfully structure problems and provide meaningful answers. Practitioner input will give students guidance and feedback on their progress.

      Assessment

      The course grading system is based on:

      • Workshop presentations, incl. peer evaluation: 30% 
      • Mid-term presentation and coachings, incl. components of grading carried out by partnering company: 60%
      • Participation: 10%

      • Good ≥75,0%
      • Satisfactory ≥62,5%
      • Passing ≥50,0%
      • Fail <50,0%
