Strategic alliances play a central role for the success of internationally operating firms and come in various shapes and forms. At the same time, research shows that because of various differences between alliance partners, such alliances are difficult to manage and are thus often highly unstable. The objective of this course is to provide you with insights into the factors that are crucial to the success of strategic alliances.
Upon successful completion of this course you will:
1. Become aware of the various types of strategic alliances that are available to internationally operating firms
2. Be able to recognize how particular characteristics of alliances affect their management and stability.
3. Develop the skills needed for solving the challenges faced by firms when considering the establishment and when managing strategic alliances
4. Improve communication skills necessary for effective (online) team work.
This module will be delivered entirely online. Lecture recordings and readings will be made available on learn@WU. A number of sessions will be held through life streaming through MS Teams. The timings of these MS Teams sessions will be confirmed at the beginning of the module.
