Procedure for the course when limited activity on campus

In case of limited campus operations due to COVID19 the course will switch to distance learning. In this case, classes will be held on Microsoft Teams, which is available to all WU students and employees via their Office365 accounts. Invitations will be sent to every participant by the instructor.

Contents

The content of this course revolves around the preparation of a scientific paper in English. The starting point is a foundational article from a very good scientific journal of our subject. Each student will be assigned one article during the first class.

By the second class, a research proposal must be prepared from each student. It is a document of 3 pages. It must contain a summary of the foundational article, as well as the presentation of three possible research questions and the literature found in addition to the basic article (at least 12 sources from high-quality journals, no books or Internet sources).

On the basis of the presentation and the interview at the intermediate date, the seminar paper is assigned individually. It has to be completed by the end of the semester. For mutual feedback, a scientific peer review system will be adopted. Students will be assigned 2 papers of their colleagues and write a review for each of those, in which they give an expert opinion on the manuscript. The final report, also integrating the revisions to address the reviews’ remarks, has to be submitted before the end of the semester.
