Learning outcomes

The students develop an understanding of the fundamental concepts in international finance.


This includes knowledge on the macroeconomic and institutional foundations of IFM, such as international monetary systems, balance of payments and corporate governance around the world. Additionally, topics on the foreign exchange market, including its organization and operation, international parity relationships, as well as the spot, forward, and future markets for foreign exchange market, will be discussed. At the end of the course, the student is able to convert the different currencies, decide on international investments and account for the time value of money.

Attendance requirements

The course is held entirely online (MS Teams).

Attendence of the first online session is required; failure to attend the first session will result in de-registration from the course. Attendence to regularly scheduled online session are part of grading assessment.

 

Teaching/learning method(s)

This course is held as Distance Learning.

Teaching/Learning Methods will be mostly self-study with regular support through online discussions and Q&A sessions. The Learning Material will be available on LEARN for download and will consist of a combination of reading material from the book, supplemental slides as well as links to videos and additional reading.

There will be two case studies and a final exam. Participation in class discussions during online sessions is expected and part of the grading assessment.

The final exam will be similar to an open-book take-home exam to be completed and uploaded within a specific timeframe.

10% - Assignment 1
