The course focuses on the implementation of corporate strategies that deal with diversity-specific aspects, and looks at what a diversity strategy should contain. Diversity management involves a process of organizational change, we will therefore assess the consequences of, and the way in which managers can deal with, resistance to diversity. We will also discuss individual and organizational learning processes in relation to diversity. Throughout the course, students will apply their knowledge on live cases, examples, and/or projects.

Learning outcomes

After completing this course, students will be able to:

Identify what a diversity strategy should contain. Understand how to implement diversity strategies, understand diversity management as a process of organizational change, as well as the consequences of resistance to diversity.

Students will also be able to evaluate the implementation of corporate strategies that deal with diversity, and to reflect on the processes of implementation. The course will also promote critical reflection and judgment, and both independent and teamwork.

Attendance requirements

Simple attendance is a basic requirement for continuous assessment courses (prüfungsimmanenten Lehrveranstaltungen (PI-LV)).

Should there be an important reason for absence, then a maximum of 20% of the entire course duration can be missed. In case of more than 20% absence, the course must be repeated. For absenteeism, confirmation (for example a medical certificate) must be submitted.
Important reasons are, according to the examination regulations of the WU, any that are beyond the disposition of the student (illness, accident, death of a close relative). Vocational obligations are not considered an important reason in the sense of the examination regulations, since these are at the disposition of the students.
