Teaching/learning method(s)

This course is scheduled for a very compact period of five weeks. Due to relatively few and short attendance dates, an increased amount of initiative is required from the students. Each student has to prepare himself/herself intensively for the learning content in advance of the online sessions each week. For this purpose, the actual lecture is provided in individual Youtube videos by Prof. Dr. Jan Mendling (see playlist link below). In addition, students must learn the contents of the accompanying textbook (“Fundamentals of Business Process Management”) and hand in four exercise homeworks during the course (+ one group presentation). Two book chapters of "Fundamentals of Business Process Managament" are covered each week.

In the five scheduled online appointments (you will be invited to a TEAMS group), the discussion of practical tasks and the solution to the homework exercises will be discussed as well as presentations by students take place.

Students have to:

- Watch (+ work through) the video lectures at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9iw99lS3Prj5VoC4Bwhmj9Wawd2r-Vtt and

- Download/Access the book "Fundamentals for Business Process Management" (or individual chapters of it) and read (+ work through) the mandatory chapters https://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/wuww/detail.action?docID=6315916 (free online when in the WU network with VPN)

- Accompanying slides are uploaded to the LEARN portal for further information

Assessment

4x 11% for homework exercises (mostly practical tasks like modeling or solving problems)

1x 11% for presentation (A group of 4 to 5 people gives a presentation about a BPM-related topic)

1x 45% for final text (Multiple Choice Exam which covers all addressed book chapters)

Prerequisites for participation and waiting lists

No specific prior knowledge is required
