This class integrate the knowledge from different SEEP-concentration areas, focusing on combining multiple perspectives when addressing politico-economic and social-ecological challenges.

Groups of four to five students
  1. are allocated to a specific policy challenge based on a short survey,
  2. choose approaches to address and understand this challenge,
  3. elaborate a vision, objectives, a pathway and a strategy and
  4. propose policies and measures to implement it.

The course will be structured along these eight questions

  1. How do you describe the status quo and the dynamics of the challenge?
  2. What are different approaches to address the challenge (based on insights from concentration areas and a literature review)?
  3. What are desired visions and objectives?
  4. What are specific conflicts that arise from these visions and objectives?
  5. Who or what are the driving and restraining forces or actors for or against achieving the desired objectives?
  6. What are pathways and strategies to achieve the desired objectives?
  7. What policies and measures do you propose to implement them?
  8. How to design a campaign to facilitate its implementation?
