The following topics will be addressed:

  • Network planning
  • Supply chain modeling
  • Network design in the supply chain considering service levels, capacity, transportation costs, and fixed costs
  • Evaluation of network design decisions using decision trees
  • Distribution Network Design
Learning outcomes

After successfully passing the class, students should be able to know and apply the models and theories of network design in supply chains.

Furthermore, they should be able to develop and validate optimization models that allow them to compare different network design configurations and to find the optimal network design for a given situation.

Attendance requirements

This semester, the course will take place in hybrid mode. For you, this means that the lessons are held in the lecture hall and parallel online (via MS Teams or ZOOM).

The units should preferably be attended in person. Please only participate online in exceptional cases and / or if there are reasons for the current COVID situation.

Common requirements for attendance: Attendance in the first lecture is mandatory for participation in the course. If an absence cannot be avoided inform the lecturer before class and provide some form of proof for the absence (e.g. medical confirmation) in the next session. In total, a minimum requirement for attendance of 80% is required to pass the course.
