Introduction to the central methods (solving and analyzing differential equations and difference equations; dynamic optimization in discrete and continuous time) and models (overlapping generations model, neoclassical growth model) of modern macroeconomics

Learning outcomes

After completion of the course, students will be able to solve and analyze dynamic macroeconomic models and apply this knowledge in the context of theory-based policy analysis.

Attendance requirements

Attendance is compulsory if teaching takes place on campus. In the case of the asynchronous distance lecture, lecturecasts are provided and attendance in the meetings is not compulsory.

Teaching/learning method(s)

The lecture comprises two parts.

The first part is a series of lectures and the second part consists of exercises to be solved and presented by the students (group work).

Assessment

Solving and presenting the exercises: 60 points

Final exam: 40 points

Prerequisites for participation and waiting lists

After the registration period, students on the waiting list will be assigned to available places in the specific courses.
