COURSE SCOPE: This course introduces students to digital transformation – an organizational change triggered and shaped by digital technologies – from a strategic leadership perspective. It consists of two parts.
In the knowledge part, students will get to know key aspects and strategic consequences of digital technologies and phenomena based on these technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), industry platforms, marketplace platforms, information platforms, online communities and crowds, smart manufacturing, and smart products. In addition, students will become familiar with key features and dynamics of digital transformation projects.
In the analysis part that focuses on Digital E-Commerce Reloaded, students will work in teams to conduct focused analyses together with Post AG, Austria's leading logistics and postal service provider. Specifically, the following topics will be analyzed: New Marketplace/E-Commerce Models, Digital Fulfillment, Returns in E-Commerce, Digital Payment, Digital Food-Commerce, Digital Identity.
COURSE ORGANIZATION & MANDATORY SUBMISSIONS BEFORE COURSE START: Teams will be compiled by the instructor. To that end, each student registered to this course has to 1) submit her/its/his CV (no formal requirements) as PDF file via e-mail and 2) fill out a form. Compiled teams will be announced in the first session.
