Business Analysts started to play an increasingly important role as the competition between businesses gets fiercer in the marketplace. How the market trends shift, how customers react to the new developments, what the forecasted sales would be, are a couple of questions to be answered by means of data. This course hence is designed to help students to get a comprehensive understanding relational databases to query data and shape results.

Throughout the course, students will use SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio), which allows them to handle the information using tables and to query these tables and other objects related (views, functions, procedures, etc.). In addition to SSMS, to visualize and analyze data, students will learn how to use Power BI, which is a powerful as well as a flexible tool for connecting with and analyzing a wide variety of data. Apart from the various visualization advantages that Power BI offers, it has amazing connection capabilities easily integrating with Databases. This offers increased advantages regarding functionalities and comes in handy for Business Analysts who are used to work in SQL.

Learning outcomes

After taking the course students will be able to

  • Learn about complete SQL concepts like joins, subqueries, constraints
  • Identify and work with business-oriented data sets
  • Understand the importance, concepts and power of data visualization
  • Create and share fully functional Power BI reports and dashboards
