Contents

The main objectives of this course are to

i)    highlight some of the practical aspects and issues that may arise when applying basic portfolio management principles in real life.

ii)    practice and achieve routine in the basic quantitative and statistical analysis of financial market data.

iii)    obtain an overview of the current investment environment.

For this purpose, the course comprises three blocks that focus on selected topics related to the above three points as well as an extensive (take home) case study related to the management of a hypothetical USD 1,000,000 investment portfolio.

Learning outcomes

After completing this class the student will have deepened their understanding of

  • practical aspects and challenges of portfolio management.
  • the current investment environment and how we got there.

Moreover, after completing this class the student will have the ability to:

  • quantify portfolio performance along various dimensions
  • better comprehend the current investment environment as well as future trends
Attendance requirements

In case of illness or accident, students may miss one of the three blocks.
