The colloquium accompanies the writing of the master thesis and gives the opportunity to present the master thesis to SEEP colleagues and faculty.
Learning outcomes

The colloquium should capacitate students to present their own research to an academic and a general public.

Attendance requirements

Attendance obliged at one-day workshop in March plus two-day final colloquium in June.

Teaching/learning method(s)
Group discussions with peers about master theses and the process of writing. Presentation of master thesis to the staff of the Master Programme. Feedback and peer-learning for finishing the master thesis.
Assessment

Following tasks need to be fulfilled in order to pass the course:

1) In-class contribution

  • contributions to the group- and peer discussion in class (e.g. small group feedback rounds on topics) at the one-day workshop in March
  • discussions after panel presentations of individual master theses at the two-day final colloquium in June

2) Delivery of Exposé in May

3) Presentation of master thesis (current status quo) to SEEP colleagues and SEEP faculty at two-day final colloquium in June

4) Popularisation of master thesis - submit abstract online with documentation of individual and already realized popularization project (master thesis needs to be already finished for this purpose) (~750words)

  • Presentation of project results or the implications drawn from these results addressed to a non-academic audience; e.g. policy makers, media, users, providers, citizens or any other stakeholders
  • Choice of format is open (e.g. YouTube video, poster, flyer, event …)
