The pre-semester German course offers incoming exchange students an opportunity to either learn some basic German or refresh their German skills before their exchange semester at WU begins. Course level A1.1 for complete beginners. The course will cover lessons 1,2 and 4 of the textbook Netzwerk neu A1.1.
This course is for complete beginners of German. You learn basic vocabulary and grammar in order to manage a simple conversation. At the end of the course, you are able to:
- present yourself and others
- speak about your preferences
- make and answer simple questions
- get along in simple everyday situations (in a shop, in a restaurant)
- ask for prices/times/dates
- ask when you do not understand
- speak about your profession
- fill in simple forms
Students should attend all classes. This course will take place on campus WU. We will only switch to a distance learning-format (live online) if teaching on campus is not possible. 80% assistance required for a positive grade.
From the first lesson onwards you will communicate in German. Thanks to different methods (group activities, role-plays, written exercises, instruction by the teacher etc.), you quickly learn the basics of the German language. Our highly qualified teachers will give you regular feedback on your progress.
Certificates are available for students with at least 80% attendance and a positive final test.
Grading criteria:
70% Final Test
20% Participation in class
10% Homework
Grades:
1 - "Sehr gut" - 85%
2 - "Gut" - 75%
3 - "Befriedigend" 65%
4 - "Genügend" 55%
