Contents

The course investigates the main phases that arise in the planning process of a railway system ranging from strategic decisions to operational ones. Each phase consists in a complex decision-making problem. We will focus on mathematical models and methods that can be applied to tackle these problems in order to achieve a more efficient railway system.

Learning outcomes

After this course the students will be able:

  • to know the characteristics of the main phases arising in the planning process of a railway system
  • to analyze and apply mathematical methods to tackle these problems
  • to critically evaluate the most relevant features of an efficient railway system
Attendance requirements

The attendance at this course must be at least 75%.
