In this course we will discuss current research in business and economics, with a focus on research utilizing experimental and other empirical methods. Applications will span the fields of strategy, innovation, behavioral economics, public economics, etc.
The goal of the course is to train students in
- Understanding and assessing contemporary experimental and empirical research,
- Discussing that research in front of an academic audience,
- Developing their own experimental and empirical research projects.
- Presenting that research to an academic audience, and
- Revising their research strategy based on academic peer commentary.
- Discussion of existing literature related to own projects.
- Presentation of own PhD projects.
- Revision of projects based on commentary.
- Open discussion of projects presented by internal and external speakers.
The course grade will depend on:
- Presentation of own research project (50%),
- Written proposal incorporating feedback (20%), and
- Discussion of other research projects (30%).
Regular attendance is required for completing this course.
