By the end of this course students should be able to:

• Understand the role of IT in governance of, and within, an organization
• Understand the role of internal controls in the planning and control of IT innovations and operations
• Know the most used frameworks and standards for IT management and governance
• Know the most used internal controls for IT management and governance
• Be able to analyse the internal controls for IT management and governance of an organisation
• Be able to advise an organisation on its internal controls for IT management and governance
• Apply a range of transferable skills such as literature search, analytical skills, application of theory to real life situations, teamwork, motivation and interpersonal skills.

Formative assessment will take place during each session when students will work on questions, case studies or seminar papers in groups or alone for class discussion. Formal grading of work and learning outcome will include level and quality of active participation, one exam, group work assignment and presentation. Individual contributions to the formative process of group work will be assessed through participants appraising and submitting a ‘Group Work: Peer & Self Assessment Form’ prior to their presentations. Individual contributions to the formative process of group work will be assessed.

50% Individual written exam
10% Individual participation and attendance
40% Group assignment (case study)
