The writing retreat is the perfect opportunity to get off for three days, to intensively work on your next publication (journal paper, conference paper or book chapter), to get multiple rounds of feedback and support from experienced scholars. The course targets PhD students who have already taken beginners courses on academic writing and who currently work on an academic publication.
The writing retreat will take place on three full days from 19. Nov 10:00 to 21. Nov 17:00 off-campus at www.flackl.at (costs for two nights and three days full board 265 Euro in single room). It provides a writer’s friendly environment and allows concentrating on the writing task without any distractions and with no pressure. This will help you to overcome the challenges of being frequently distracted by other tasks and to ensure that you make substantial progress on your paper.
You will substantially improve your writing skills and your paper. In particular you will
- pursue and potentially finalize a concrete writing project
- learn how to transfer insights gained from the writing retreat to your daily routine of writing
- reflecting on your writing
- network and exchange writing experiences with peers
The writing retreat will take place Nov 19-21. you have to attend the whole three days.
Multiple rounds of feedback from experienced writers and from your colleagues.
You should have already taken a basic course in academic writing. As a starting point for the retreat, you should have completed your background research and/or data analysis and have an extended abstract at hand (do be submitted at least three days before the retreat).
