Contents

The course investigates different aspects of logistics considering sustainable and environmental issues. Topics covered include railway and public transport, sustainable mobility, city logistics, circular economy and how to include sustainability related objectives. The topics  range from strategic considerations, such as network planning, to operational decisions, such as routing. We will also apply quantitative models and methods in order to build a more efficient and “greener” system. 

Learning outcomes

After this course the students will be able

  • To analyse and apply quantitative methods to various problems arising in sustainable logistics
  • To elaborate and discuss practical examples in groups
  • To critically evaluate scientific papers
Attendance requirements

Attendance in the first lecture is mandatory for the participation in the course. If an absence cannot be avoided inform the lecturer  before class and provide some form of proof for the absence (e.g. medical confirmation) in the next session. In total, a minimum requirement for attendance of 80% is required to pass the course.

Grading scale:

  • (1) Excellent: 90% - 100%
  • (2) Good: 80% - <90%
  • (3) Satisfactory: 70% - <80%
  • (4) Sufficient: 60% - <70%
  • (5) Fail: <60%
