The course Professional Development Workshop develops students‘ ability to address future challenges in organizational leadership. Building on the introductory courses taught in the first semester of the master program, selected future challenges in strategy, innovation and management control are presented and senior faculty members will discuss these challenges with students in a highly interactive format.
Learning outcomes
  • Understanding of the presented future management and leadership challenges  
  • Ability to combine perspectives from strategy, innovation and management control
  • Advanced capabilities for critical and creative thinking to address tomorrow’s problems
Attendance requirements

This course features 4 different tracks. Each lecturer presents their own track and focuses on a specific topic. Two course days are allocated to each track.

Students choose 2 out of a total of 4 tracks. Students must ensure that they have time on all selected dates as 100% attendance is required.

The assignment of the tracks takes place during the kick-off and participation is mandatory for all students. 

 

Teaching/learning method(s)
  • In session 1 (kick-off) professors will present selected topics in strategy, innovation and management control and students can choose two out of four tracks.
  • Students will read papers (and write comments on papers)
  • Workshop form with emphasis on active student participation
  • Inputs, discussions and team-presentations
Assessment

Track 1:

  • Individual assignment Topic 1                                30%
  • Group assignment and discussion Topic 1           20%

Track 2:

  • Individual assignment Topic 2                                30%
  • Group assignment and discussion Topic 2           20%

Grading scale:

Excellent (1)

87.5%-100.0%

Good (2)

75.0% -<87.5%

Satisfactory (3)

62.5% -<75.0%

Sufficient (4)

50.0% -<62.5%

Fail (5)

<50.0%

 

Both selected tracks must be graded positive, otherwise the course will be graded as failed.
