Learning outcomes

• Knowledge of current developments in geopolitics and globalization
• Understanding of different economic systems in international markets
• Knowledge of national and supranational institutions that shape the geopolitical economy
• Knowledge of theories of economic exchange at the country level
• Knowledge about the steps in the internationalization of companies
• Understanding how global companies are run
• Basic knowledge of international marketing, international finance, international human resources management and international supply chain management
• Dealing with current trends in global business activities (digitalization, sustainability)
• Development of English language skills

In-person / "Kontaktstunden":

5 lecture units

 

Online (synchron):

1. Study what you learnt in class: Slides presented in class

2. Deepen your understanding:

  • 3-5 online videos to watch after each unit
  • 3-5 articles to read after each unit

3. Test your understanding:

  • 20 multiple choice questions (4 after each unit) that are graded

4. Apply your knowledge

  • Read 5 case studies and submit at least one written case study solution
  • Read / watch the solutions to the case studies (published after the hand-in date of the task above)

5. Ask your questions

  • Forum in which you can read through other students‘ answered questions and ask your own questions
  • Students can connect with each other to form study groups

 

Assessment
60%  Final Exam (05/08/24): 60 minutes, 40 multiple choice questions, multiple answers of five options can be true
20%  Multiple Choice questions after units (due two days after unit 1-5; each question is worth 1 point; 4 questions after each session)
15%  Case Report (04/28/24): Choose 1 of 5 cases to write a case report and submit your case solution (further information provided in "Aufgaben")
5%  Peer Feedback (05/10/24): Read and grade a randomly assigned case from a classmate
 
 
60-69%: Genügend
70-79%: Befriedigend 
80-89%: Gut
>90%: Sehr gut
 
Homework  and case study points cannot be transferred to another semester if students do not pass the lecture or if they miss the exam.
