Contents

Students work on topics in symbolic-connectionist hybrid AI:

  • conduct scientific work as required by the task
  • prepare first version of paper
  • presentation
  • peer-review the work of other students
  • prepare final paper

Attendance requirements

In-class attendance for whole first and last lecture.

During the second class, in-class group appointments are established that must not be missed. 

Teaching/learning method(s)

Simulation of workshop on hybrid symbolic-connectionist models:

  • Topic and abstract submissions to program committee (lecturer)
  • Conducting research tasks such as literature overview, data collection, and analysis
  • Submission of preliminary paper
  • Presentation of paper and results
  • Peer review of submissions
  • Final paper submission addressing changes proposed by reviewers

Course materials will be available online at mitloehner.com. Students work in groups of two. Contributions will be formatted as latex documentclass article, so a fictionary proceedings volume can be produced.

Assessment
  • First version of paper: 20%
  • Presentation: 20%
  • Peer-review reports: 20%
  • Final seminar paper: 40%

The use of AI tools such as chatGPT for generating content of the seminar paper is not allowed.

Prerequisites for participation and waiting lists

Positive completion of course 1 of the “Knowledge Management” SBWL. The presence in the first unit of the course is a compulsory prerequisite.
